There exist fundamentally two aspects of effective learning which are of equal importance and which should be balanced. The first of these is teaching methodology which can all be mastered by anyone with the desire to do so and can be used advantageously in the learning process.
The second of the two aspects, and the one on which I will focus in this essay, is the criticality of the learning environment. The ability of the teacher to provide a positive and nurturing environment is enhanced by certain inherent qualities, some of which are awareness, empathy, creativeness and genuine caring for the student's heart.
I firmly believe that long term, persistent effort to learn comes from the heart and not the head. To win the hearts of the students, a teacher should first promote a climate of caring and trust. Since success breeds success, early success is foundational. Providing challenging yet achievable goals, aided by consistent positive reinforcement and support are methods the effective educator uses to ensure early, and therefore, continued success.

Our combination of International Course Directors and IDC Staff will ensure that you have the most up to date knowledge and resources available to you. Through out the period of the IDC, the staff will provide you with all the support that you need to fulfil the curriculum and prepare for the IE.

Simone - PADI course Director

Simone Gerritsen comes from Holland and has over 25 years of experience in the diving industry. She became a PADI Instructor in 1987 and a PADI Course in 1991.Director (the first female Course Director in Europe) Up to date Simone has taught over 300 Instructors candidates of which approximately 70% are still employed & working all over the world.

John Saber - PADI course Director

PADI IDC Course Director

John was born in a small coal mining village in West Virginia, USA. At the tender age of 11, his family moved to Carlsbad, New Mexico (it is incredibly hot there). He had his first job there, fueling airplanes at the local air port. He was paid in flying time and became a certified pilot (single engine, land) After graduating from university, President Nixon sent him an invitation to join the military, and John spent 7 years in the Army as a Russian translator. A few years back in the US, teaching physics, chemistry and math, and then on to Bali (hot, but the water in the drains turns clockwise here and that keeps you entertained so you don’t notice the heat—ask John for a full explanation of the coriolis effect). In Bali, he developed his current company, IDC BALI into a PADI 5 Star Instructor Development Center and is living there in tropical bliss. Consistent with the Bali life style, he runs a very low stress IDC where you even get to take a day or two off and go diving.
